"She believed she could, and so she did"
The Eliza Juliet Norton Foundation aims to continue Eliza's legacy by providing children with increased access to and enhanced experiences in athletics and beyond with a focus on teamwork, good sportsmanship, and community building.
Eliza was a fierce supporter of her friends, teammates, and classmates. We continue her mission to help children be confident individuals and to stand up for others. This goal is achieved through targeted programs and partnerships with school districts and national children's organizations.
Eliza was a bright, active girl with boundless energy, whose favorite place to be was on a rink, field, or monkey bars with her friends and teammates. Her foundation will work with communities to enable investment in spaces of play, including playgrounds, ball fields, and hockey rinks.
Eliza craved "the crunch of the ice" under her skates and was at her absolute happiest when playing ice hockey. Through this program, we are committed to promoting and expanding access to the game she loved for children and especially girls locally and nationwide.
We are thrilled to announce that the Town of Wayland Select Committee has unanimously voted in favor of allowing the EJN Foundation to move ahead with our dugout project for Cochituate Fields. With your continued support, we intend to raise enough funds to make a number of improvements, starting with the addition of new dugouts at the two ball fields. Work on these enhancement initiatives is ongoing, and we will continue to raise funds for future projects. We can't wait to share what else we have in store!

Our hearts are full after our inaugural Eliza's Play with Heart 3v3 Hockey Tournament and Auction on April 29th. In partnership with the East Coast Wizards, 26 teams across 3 age groups came together and played their hearts out all for a great cause at The Edge SportsCenter in Bedford, MA. It was a day full of hard work, teamwork, and smiles celebrating hockey and our girl. Together, we were able to raise over $50,000, which will be invested back into youth hockey programs locally.
We were so touched to see, and be the recipients of, all of your acts of kindness all week long leading up to Eliza's birthday on April 30th! From bringing a friend some flowers to treating opponents to cookies on the playing field, you all showed up in the biggest way to honor Eliza and take care of others. We can't wait to see how you Act with Heart next year and every day until then. Tag us on social @EJNFoundation to spread kindness all year long!
